Thursday August 14th 2025 - get Results Day prepared!

No matter how confident you feel, you need to have a basic backup plan in place. Here are some key steps to help you through the day.

  • Spend an hour looking at Clearing places advertised before Results Day. Look at the courses they offer in detail.

  • Make a list of potential alternative Universities.

  • On Results Day arrive as early as your school allows, with a fully-charged phone.

  • If you cannot attend in person (whyever not????!!!) make sure your school/college knows in writing who is collecting your results for you - they should go early too and have your immediate contact numbers.

  • Open the envelope and if you need help speak to a member of staff immediately.

  • Have a list of contact numbers for admissions. Go to Clearing on UCAS to see what's available.

  • Start calling - you will be on hold for ages but once you get through they have immediate access to your application and can give an immediate Yes or No.

  • You may be offered an alternative Degree at your chosen University.

  • If you decide against going to your Confirmed choice you will need to phone them directly and ask to be released. This usually takes a few days.

  • You can hold several clearing places usually for up to a week, so you have time to visit in person.

  • Don't forget to ask about accommodation!

  • A good bet is to contact the 3 Universities who gave you an offer which you did not accept.

  • Schools/colleges are usually contactable for advice via email.

  • Universities stay open late for a few days after Results Day.

Good luck, preparation meets opportunity!
